Registration for the Cubbie Bear 5K includes a commemorative race shirt, race bib and medal as well as a ticket to a future Iowa Cubs game.  We will also provide a water station on course and you’ll get a ballpark hotdog when you cross the finish line at home plate! 

Registration for the Cubbie Bear Kids Run includes a commemorative Iowa Cubs item, race bib and medal as well as a finish near home plate of Principal Park.

There is no age requirement for the Cubbie Bear 5K which is 3.1 miles.  Participants must be 14 and under for the Cubbie Bear Kids Run which will be .6 miles. Parents can run alongside athletes in the kids run but will not get a medal.

We think both events are going to be awesome!  All participants must be registered to participate in the 5K (kids and adults).  All registrants in the 5K will receive a t-shirt and a medal.  All registered kids in the Kids Run will receive a Cubbie Bear gift item and a medal but not a t-shirt.  Parents can run alongside registered kids in the Kids Run without being registered but parents will not receive a gift item or a medal.  The 5K will being at 9AM and the Kids Run will begin at 10:15AM.  Kids are encouraged to participate in both events if they’d like but do need to be registered for both.

Yes!  Please line up in the final wave of the race if you’re participating with a stroller.  All strollers will have to be dropped at a “drop zone” prior to the field finish and can be picked up after you cross the finish line.  

No running required here.  We encourage runners, sloggers and walkers to participate.  There will be race waves at the start, placing our fastest athletes at the front and our walkers at the back.  As long as you can finish the 5K in 90 minutes, we’ll see you there!

For the safety of your favorite friend and in keeping with rules and regulations of our insurance, dogs/animals are not allowed on the event course, except service animals as defined by federal law.

The Cubbie Bear 5K will be timed and your timing chip will be located on the back of your race bib.  The Cubbie Bear Kids Run is untimed.

Yes!  Participants will finish at home plate and will receive a post-race water and hotdog.  Stick around for music and a lively atmosphere at Principal Park.

Yes, the Cubbie Bear 5K follows the same bag policy that Principal Park follows for games.  Please see below.

The only bags allowed inside Principal Park are CLEAR BAGS smaller than 12in long x 12in tall x 6in wide.  Small clutches no larger than 6in × 8in will also be permitted.  Exceptions ONLY allowed for medical equipment bags and diaper bags for families accompanied by small children.  All bags are subject to search by Iowa Cubs staff or security personnel.  No outside food or drink is allowed to be brought into Principal Park.

All athletes will receive a water and hotdog as part of their registration following your finish but concessions also will be open for other items.  Principal Park is a cashless facility. Two reverse ATM machines will be available inside Principal Park near the Cambria Fan Services Center behind home plate. At those machines, fans can exchange cash for a pre-paid Mastercard debit card that is good not only at Principal Park, but anywhere in the United States that Mastercard is accepted.
